Holiday Homes Selling Fast

The market has turned a corner over the past few weeks with many sales being agreed to holiday home buyers. We are 60% up on sales agreed compared to this time last year and in April we reserved 12 units at our Una St Ives scheme alone.

We are finding that our buyers are feeling more confident about the South West property market which is starting to show an increase in prices across the board.  In a recent report The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors is estimating a growth of around 7% next year in the South West.

startbay-14Many of our buyers would like to buy now to be able to, not only, use their new home over the summer period but also to take advantage of the income many of our properties generate over the busy summer months. For instance Start Bay Lookout with incredible views can be bought now and the new owner will benefit from the bookings over the Summer.

From our database of over 800 potential buyers, many of which have been registered with us for a year or more, we are finding a renewed urgency as we tell them that the properties they were interested in have actually been sold. This has focused their minds and there is a true feeling that if they do not buy this year they will have to pay more in 2015.

This year Helpful Holidays have seen an increase in holiday letting bookings of about 11% compared with 2013. Income can be gained from the purchase of a holiday home which can then be used to offset costs. This means that many of the properties can be cost neutral (even paying a mortgage off in some cases) and then can be enjoyed by the holiday home owner for practically free.
